A New Arrival...Just In Time For Mother's Day!

Just in time for Mother's Day, we are excited to announce PFLAG's newest arrival: A Note To My Kid!

That’s right: this wonderful program, founded three years ago by Patrick Wallace, Mike Curry, and Michael Volpatt, has been adopted as a project of PFLAG National. And who better to continue to nurture and love this important piece of work than PFLAGers, who every day express support, respect and affirmation of their LGBT loved ones...and volunteer countless hours of their time to help others do the same.

Launched in November 2011, ANTMK is a project designed to give members of the LGBTQ community, their parents, family, and friends the opportunity to share publicly their unconditional love with one another via notes, videos, and photos, with the hope that these public expressions of love, support, and affirmation will help those who haven’t yet been supported or accepted by their own families and friends.

“Since 2011, we’ve provided a safe haven for people around the world to express the unconditional love they have for their LGBTQ family and friends,” said ANTMK co-founder Patrick Wallace. “We’re honored that PFLAG, an organization built on one mother’s love and exceptional bravery, will leverage its network and wide reach of support to share real stories of acceptance, unity, and unconditional love with the world.”

Every day, people who are LGBT and their families and friends reach out to PFLAG National and its many chapters with their questions, hopes, and fears. PFLAG National will work with chapters so that ANTMK will become part of the answer we provide: that family support and unconditional love are crucial. We are honored to openly adopt this cherished “child” of Patrick, Mike, and Michael, which we will continue to nurture throughout the PFLAG network.

You can visit A Note To My Kid at its website (anotetomykid.com), on Facebook (facebook.com/anotetomykid), on Twitter (@anotetomykid), and more. Notes, videos, and photos can be submitted via email to antmk@pflag.org, and will be shared widely across PFLAG National’s network of online communications so that they can be shared by chapters.

I am absolutely thrilled to see your support for this wonderful program! Because of "A Note To My Kid" and Patrick Wallace, I was able to "come out" as the parent of a gay child on Facebook to all my friends and family when I wrote a letter of support to my son on his 21st birthday. Being able to publicly publish a letter to him and show him that I was willing to stand for him in such an outspoken way, changed not only how much my son saw that I supported him, but it changed ME. It made me a better person and helped me tackle my life as the parent of a gay child with more courage. This is the best Mother's Day present I can think of! Thank you for recognizing this wonderful organization and the fantastic work they do. I cannot encourage everyone enough to contribute to it. I did, and it changed my world.
